Motion Graphics Designer
Surface Laptop Studio was built around transitions. The launch film moved between live action, CG, and the device UI, so the real challenge was making all of those layers feel like one continuous visual system.
I created all of the UI animation for the piece and supported the shoots on location, helping make sure the screens would line up cleanly once everything came back into post. That mattered because the UI was not living on its own. It had to work inside camera moves, live-action beats, and transitions that were doing a lot of the storytelling.
What made the project stand out was the way we moved in and out of the device using 3D scans of rooms and people, sometimes diving from the real world straight into the machine itself. Those transitions gave the film its identity. The UI had to hold up through all of it and still feel natural. It is still one of my favorite Surface launch pieces for that reason.
- Created all UI animation for the Surface Laptop Studio launch film.
- Provided on-set UI supervision across multiple shoots so the screen work would line up cleanly with the footage.
- Built the UI to work inside transitions that blended CG, live action, and 3D scans of rooms and people.
