Alcon Laboratories | Talking Head Interviews
At Alcon, talking heads and interview-driven videos were a constant part of the work. Some were shot in the studio, others on the road, and the pace was usually fast. Over more than five years, we produced 300 to 500 videos a year, so the trick was building a process that could handle both volume and variety.
These are a few examples from that side of the work.
Alcon Associate Workshop
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
In 2017, I led production and post on a two-part series for an onboarding meeting with the Alcon Executive Leadership Team. The hardest part was scheduling, getting time with that many senior leaders and coordinating the shoot while staying on a compressed timeline.
We filmed several of the interviews on chroma key and still delivered both videos on schedule, with roughly two to three weeks for production and another two weeks for post.
Mission Trip Videos
Editor, Motion Graphics
I edited these for Corporate Communications using a mix of provided photos and video from Alcon Associates on annual mission trips.
The job was to turn that material into something that felt like a real story instead of a recap. A lot of it came down to pacing, selects, and finding the emotional center in footage that arrived in all different shapes.
Jennie Garth - The Eye Solution
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
In 2014, we made a Kids Vision For Life piece with Jennie Garth in Fort Worth. Because the schedule was tight, we shot her narrative segments on chroma key and built the rest of the piece around that.
I handled both production and post, making sure the studio material and the supporting footage cut together cleanly in the final video.
Alcon TV
Director, Producer, Editor, Motion Graphics
From 2014 to 2015, we produced a quarterly broadcast with Alcon CEO Jeff George. Every episode had about a two-week turnaround, so prep was everything.
I built name keys, b-roll, map animations, and credits ahead of time so post could move fast once the interview was done. That workflow helped the series stay consistent, and it eventually picked up three Telly Awards and a Creativity Award.
Creative Services Sizzle Videos
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
These were sizzle pieces built around Alcon associates and the services our team could provide. The goal was to make the internal production work feel visible and useful, not just list it out.
The three videos here are all pieces I shot and edited myself.
Mike Ball - Facebook LinkedIn
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
This was a social video featuring CEO Mike Ball, shot in the studio on green screen with background footage captured separately.
The job was keeping it simple and direct so it would work cleanly on platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn.
Novartis CEO Joseph Jimenez
Producer, Editor
This was a message from Novartis CEO Joseph Jimenez about Q1 2015 results. I oversaw the production with CRM Studios and then handled the edit.
It was a straightforward executive message, but it still needed to feel polished and clear.
EMEA Altitude Meeting Video
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
For this piece, we filmed Mark Lucas against a white backdrop in the studio. By then I had already outfitted the room so setups like this could happen quickly without a lot of overhead.
That speed mattered. The better the studio was configured, the easier it was to turn simple executive messages around fast.
On-Location - Doctor Interviews
Director, Producer, Editor, DP
I handled a range of doctor interviews on location, sometimes with a crew and sometimes completely on my own. At ASCRS in Chicago, I covered the full shoot and finished the edit on the flight home.
In Las Vegas, I managed a three-camera setup with lighting, audio, and all of post. I also filmed Dr. Ani in our cafeteria, which is a good example of how many of these shoots had to adapt to whatever space was available.
Customer Experience Video
Director, Producer, Editor
This video was created for the Customer Experience team to show the work they were doing and why it mattered inside the company.
The job was to give that impact some shape and make the team's contribution feel visible, clear, and worth paying attention to.
