UI Production Director
Surface Laptop was part of the first Copilot+ PC push, so the video had to do two jobs at once. It needed to introduce the device, but it also had to make the AI story feel clear and tangible on screen.
As UI Production Director, I led the UI side of the film, shaping feature moments like Live Translations, Windows Studio Effects, and Recall. I worked closely with art direction so the screens felt built into the story, not dropped in as feature callouts, and kept the whole piece tied back to the larger Copilot+ PC launch.
- I led the UI production for key feature moments across the Surface Laptop launch film.
- I built the feature work so it felt cinematic without losing clarity.
- I used the UI to connect this piece back to the broader Copilot+ PC story.

Live Translations was one of the main moments in the film. The feature translates 44 languages into English from any audio source, so it had to feel impressive, but it also had to be easy to understand at a glance.
I started with a flat 2D version to work out the basic layout and how the captions should behave. Once that was in a decent place, I moved it into 3D and started building the core motion around the live captioning itself.
From there, it was all iteration. I added more dynamic movement, refined the interface so it felt cleaner, and kept tightening the pacing until the feature felt clear and polished. Each version built on the last one, both visually and functionally, until it finally landed in a way that felt right for the film.
