UI Production Director
In 2022, I was entrusted with the critical task of leading the creation of UI animations for the Windows 11 2022 launch video. As the UI Director, my expertise and attention to detail were essential in ensuring the success of this project. My responsibilities included:
- Team Leadership: Oversaw a talented team of animators, providing guidance and direction to bring the UI screens to life through animation.
- On-Set Resource: Advised talent on how to interact with the device naturally on camera and managed the distribution and setup of devices across different filming locations.
- UI Template Creation: Developed a comprehensive UI template system used in subsequent projects, including the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 sizzle videos.
The result was a visually impressive video that accurately showcased the capabilities of Windows 11. I am proud of the significant contributions I made to the success of these projects and am confident in my ability to lead and manage UI animation projects of similar scale and complexity.

Below is a showcase of some elements I created as part of a comprehensive UI template system we continue to use when animating scenes.
Dynamic Taskbar Animation:
- Versatile Design: Created a dynamic taskbar animation designed to accommodate various revisions and projects.
- Marker Remap Plugin: Utilized the Marker Remap plugin for efficient scene placement and flexibility within After Effects, streamlining the animation process and allowing for adaptable scene arrangements.
Essential Properties Development:
- High Flexibility: Developed a series of Essential Properties for the taskbar, providing extensive control over its appearance.
- Customizable Features: Enabled effortless changes to the taskbar’s color, date and time updates, activation of additional states, and seamless integration of different applications into the taskbar.
In addition to developing multiple templates, I actively participated in creating various scenes in the final video. The process involved a well-structured approach:
- Storyboarding: Collaborated with the storyboard artist to create detailed frames, laying the foundation for the animation.
- Provisional UI Content: Incorporated temporary UI elements to visualize interactions and refine the overall flow.
- Final UI Integration: Refined and evaluated the UI meticulously, ensuring a polished and visually impressive final product.
- 3D Animation: Delivered the completed UI animations to the 3D artists on my team for finalizing the animation.
This structured and collaborative approach resulted in a polished and visually impressive video, demonstrating the new capabilities of Windows 11.
